If rats make you uneasy, then maybe this isn’t the story (or video) for you.
A woman living in Fairview is looking to leave the city due to too many rats living in her neighbourhood.
Brenda Potter owns and breeds Siberian huskies from her home and has already lost one of her beloved dogs from leptospirosis – a disease rats carry last fall.
Brenda believes a rat peed in her home or yard and when her dog, Pippen sniffed it, that’s how the dog contracted the disease. She compares it to living in a war zone.
Potter set up webcams around her home to capture the rats scurrying around. You can see it in CTV’s coverage of Brenda’s story in the video below:
She’s doing what she can to keep the rats away but says she’s getting no help from the municipality. Potter complained to HRM but says those concerns fell on deaf ears so now she’s looking at properties away from the city.
