Matt Whitman is in some hot water after retweeting a message from a white supremacist group called ID Canada, which criticized council for taking down the Cornwallis statue. Deputy mayor Waye Mason pointed out the error in a tweet of his own, asking Whitman what was wrong with him. Whitman says he had no idea the tweet came from a pro-white group, deleted the retweet and blocked the group. And just as we’ve all come to know and expect from Matt Whitman, he blocked the deputy mayor from his Twitter.
Cape-Breton mayor Cecil Clarke announced he’s gay yesterday and only decided to speak publicly because someone threatened to expose his personal life. Clarke says he didn’t want to run for the Tory leadership with people thinking they could shame him or hold something over him.
It’s that time again! Our very own Shubenacadie Sam is set to make his Groundhog Day weather prediction this morning. Will he see his shadow and it’ll be six more weeks of winter or will he not see it and we can look forward to an early spring? We will have to wait and see at eight!
Hopefully the weather holds off until Sam makes his appearance; there’s a flash freeze warning for Halifax; the rain we’re going to get today will just freeze up as the temperature drops tonight to -25. So it’ll be a slippery drive tonight with a light snowfall on top of that ice.
Police are asking for your help to find some crap. A portable toilet has gone missing – stolen – and RCMP are asking for your help to find it. It’s a blue-coloured Royal Flush branded crapper, with a white roof and red trim; stolen from worksite on highway 277 in the Dutch Settlement community. Police say it was empty when it was taken…
And that’s your Fast Five!
