Council decided yesterday to remove the Cornwallis statue from the same park that bears his name, and move it to storage temporarily until a final decision is made on how to move forward. Council members hope the decision to break down a “barrier to reconciliation” will open the door to continue talks with Mi’kmaq leaders on how our city commemorates Halifax’s founder.
Only nine NSLCs across the province will be selling weed when it becomes legal this summer. It does mean long drives for those living in rural communities, but they can grow their own plants at home and NSLC will also offer online sales with home delivery. Four out of the 9 stores will be in the HRM; the former Clyde Street store will reopen to exclusively sell cannabis.

One of Canada’s oldest men is celebrating his 107th birthday the small fishing village of Beaver Harbour in New Brunswick; Arnold Hawkins was born there and lived there his whole life as a fisherman until he was well into his 70’s. Arnold says the key to a long life like his: fish and potatoes.
