Last night at the SAG awards, Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri was the big winner for film; This Is Us and Big Little Lies were the big winners for TV. Despite allegations of sexual misconduct against him, and skipping an award show last week amid the rumours, James Franco did attend the SAG awards last night (although he skipped the red carpet.) He did not win the award for Outstanding Performance for a Male Actor, however.
A small-scale women’s march down the only road in Sandy Cove that charmed the internet last year was back again to march in-solidarity with hundreds of other marches around the world Saturday. Turnout went from 15 participants last year to over 30 this year; Sandy Cove has a year-round population of about 65. Organizer Gwen Wilson says it shows that you don’t have to live in a big city to stand up for your beliefs.
Website Mashable is reporting that Earth had one of its warmest years on record – again – in 2017. NASA, which uses different methods to study Earth’s temps, found that 2017 was the second-warmest year on record. In more bad news, scientists also revealed the six warmest years ever have all happened since 2010, and that people born after 1977 have never experienced a cooler-than-average year.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West revealed the name of their newborn: the couple has chosen to name their third child Chicago West. The newborn arrived via surrogate and joins older sister North and older brother Saint. While Kim didn’t offer any explanation for the name choice, Kanye was famously raised in the Windy City.
Ed Sheeran revealed on Instagram over the weekend that he is engaged to his longtime girlfriend (and high school crush) Cherry Seaborn. The 26-year-old singer also tells The Daily Star that he wants to quit music once he becomes a father. No word on when the couple will tie the knot but it begs the question: who will sing an Ed Sheeran wedding song at Ed Sheeran’s wedding?
