A crowd of about 100 people showed up to rescue a beached whale that washed ashore at Rainbow Haven yesterday. They shoveled out a path to the water, got the whale on an inflatable raft and dragged it back to the water; some in wet suits guided it to deeper waters a distance away from shore. A rep from the Marine Animal Response Society says he’s not sure if the whale will survive but the quick action of the volunteers improved the likelihood it will.
Environment Canada is warning Halifax to be prepared Thursday and Friday – we’re going to have a winter storm; this one bringing very high winds, a lot of snow that will turn into rain. Snow and rainfall amounts have not yet been issued.

In a blog post from New years Day, Carrie says she had to have 40-50 stitches on her face and hopes that when she is seen publicly again, the differences are minimal but she doesn’t know how it’s all going to end up.
Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren welcomed their third child on New Year’s Eve. His name: Hayes Alba Warren. The 36-year-old actress took to Instagram on January 1 to share a photo of the couple’s newborn son. The couple are already parents to two daughters, 9-year-old Honor and 6-year-old Haven.
