Our mild autumn means ticks are still a threat in the woods and Nova Scotians are being warned to be vigilant when checking for ticks as reports rise. There’s actually been more tick cases this month and last than there was in June and July.
Beyonce tops the Forbes list for top female earner for this year, banking $105 million. Adele comes in second with $69 million earned, Taylor Swift is third with $44; Taylor is the odds-on favourite to top next year’s list since her latest album just came out and she’s got a tour coming up. Rounding up the rest of the top 5 are Celine Dion in fourth and Jennifer Lopez in fifth.
Harrison Ford helped rescue a woman who crashed her car in California on Sunday. The woman was driving down a highway when her car swerved off the road, crashing into a tree. 75-year old Ford was in the area with a friend, rushed over to to help the woman out of her vehicle, then left the scene. This isn’t the first time that Harrison Ford has helped in an emergency. He’s helped in two other traffic accidents…that we know of.
Paris Hilton wants everybody to know that she and Britney Spears were taking selfies long before Instagram and Twitter existed. The 36-year-old socialite-turned-DJ shared two photos of her and Britney posing together from 2006 and captioned them, “Eleven years ago today, me and Britney invented the selfie!” The images look as though they were taken with a digital camera rather than a phone.
The oh-so famous Macy’s on 34th Street in New York will have parents wishing for a miracle this Christmas: this year, kids will need an appointment to sit on Santa’s lap at the department store. The company says the new free reservation system will actually minimize wait times and families can go online to sign up for a time slot from 30 minutes to five days in advance. Yes, Virginia, there really is a schedule to see Santa Claus.
