Acadia beat Saint Mary’s Huskies 45-38 in overtime to win the Loney Bowl last night; after SMU was initially disqualified, the game was cancelled and Acadia named champs and after a weekend of court hearings to get the game going again. Now Acadia is heading to the Uteck Bowl to take on Ontario’s Western Mustangs Saturday with the winner advancing to the Vanier Cup later this month.
A tree from Cape Breton will be cut today to begin its journey to Boston, acknowledging the help that they provided to our city after the Halifax Explosion; the 53-foot tall white spruce will be celebrated during this mornings’ public cutting ceremony in Inverness County. The tree will then be trucked to Grand Parade for a public farewell Friday.
People magazine has named Blake Shelton as this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. The 41-year-old Voice coach says “ “I’ve been ugly my whole life, [so] if I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it,” and can’t wait to flaunt his title in front of his fellow coach (and 2013 Sexiest Man Alive) Adam Levine.
From The Voice judges to Idol alumni – Jordan Sparks has revealed to People magazine that she and boyfriend Dana Isaiah got hitched back in July and are expecting their first child together in the spring! The 27-year-old Sparks and her 25-year-old husband initially met back in February but started dating in April.
The company that owns everyone’s favourtie card game, Cards Against Humanity just bought a piece of land on the U.S.-Mexican border to prevent Trump from ever building a wall on it. The company calls it Cards of Humanity Saves America and encourages people to donate $15 in exchange for six surprises in December related to the campaign.
