Two Halifax university campuses are among the top 10 most expensive for off-campus students according to MacLean’s magazine. St Mary’s came in third on the list; Dal placed 7th. An average year at SMU costs just under $23,000 for food, travel and rent. Living at home and going to school, that’ll still cost you between 10 & 11 thousand a year.
In case you missed it, Halifax did submit its bid for an Amazon headquarters the other day – and even Mayor Mike Savage admits its a long shot. Our bid focused on the quality of life here; we don’t really fit Amazon’s application requirements like population, transit and tech talent but hey, ya never know, right? A new study by Nature Ecology and Evolution suggests dolphins could have become Earth’s dominant species – if they only had hands…Like humans, dolphins have highly complex relationships with each other, communicate in regional dialects, help raise children that aren’t their own and even care for their elderly. But, for better or for worse, dolphins just didn’t develop dexterous hands like humans did, limiting their ability to create complex physical tools and technologies.
