Nova Scotia Teachers Union has called for a strike vote over a new report outlining what the government should do about our education system, that includes recommendations like eliminating school boards in the province. The strike vote will be held next Tuesday.

Of all people, Matt Whitman is calling for any complaints made against Halifax councillors be made public. (Whitman has been under scrutiny lately after retweets made from a white supremacist group.) As of yesterday morning, there are 57 outstanding complaints against councillors already for 2018; and the municipality never discloses which councillors received complaints.
Halifax Transit officials are hinting that transit fares could increase – but just not this year. The issue was raised last night at the council meeting; fares have not increased in 5 years and according to Councillor Russell Walker, revenues aren’t covering the costs of transit changes. Ours among the lowest in the country at $2.50 for an adult to ride transit.
