The Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs has pulled out of city’s Cornwallis statue review, saying they’ve run out of patience with a process that has dragged on for “far too long” and want the statue removed immediately. Mayor Mike Savage says this move may derail the city’s efforts, leaving the plan in limbo but hopes to re-engage the assembly again.
A storm coming tonight could drop snow, ice pellets and rain on Halifax; we’re going to get about 15-25 centimetres of snow which will turn into the messy ice/rain mix, with poor visibility from high winds causing blowing snow. It’s going to hit around 5 today then move along tomorrow afternoon.

Canada’s own Alessia Cara won for Best New Artist. Jay-Z who earned the most nominations for this year’s award with 8 walked away empty-handed.
Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance at the Grammys last night – in a pre-taped skit where celebs auditioned to narrate the Trump book “Fire and Fury” in hopes of nabbing next year’s Best Spoken Word Album award. Her line from the book was the one about Trump loving McDonalds because he feared being poisoned if he ate at the White House. The spoof also featured Cher, Snoop Dogg and John Legend.
Fans of both Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift think the singers are working on new music together, thanks to a snake accessory Gaga wore to the Grammys last night: a black snake ring. Swift fans recognized the similarities between Gaga’s ring and the one sold on Taylor’s website… Taylor uses the snake imagery after Kim Kardashian compared the pop singer to a serpent during her feud with Kanye West.
