Move over, stress balls, there’s a tiny, fluffy heartbeat in the office!
Apparently office petting zoos are all the rage these days as companies look for innovative ways to reduce employee stress.
“Animals make the environment less stress-y,” Alan Beck, director of the Center of the Animal-Human Bond at Purdue University, tells The Washington Post. “When you talk to another person, your blood pressure goes up. When you talk to animals, it goes down.”
But some companies, like the property management company Nest DC, have their limits. At their latest office petting zoo, they “didn’t bring the ducks” because “they kind of made a mess” the last time!
