Taylor Swift dropped the fourth track off her forthcoming album Reputation Thursday night. “Call It What You Want” is a mid-tempo pop song that reflects on Swift’s drama with Kimye, her subsequent break from the spotlight, and how finding her boyfriend Joe Alwyn made her realize how dumb all the drama was.
“My castle crumbled overnight / I brought a knife to a gunfight / They took the crown but it’s alright,” she sings. “All the liars are calling me one / Nobody’s heard from me in months / I’m doing better than I ever was.”
Swifties are also speculating that “Call It What You Want” is a sequel to her 2008 song “Love Story” because it contains the lyrics “You don’t need to save me… But would you run away with me? Yes.” Fans pointed out that “Love Story” featured a different narrative with similar lyrics: “Romeo save me…Take me somewhere we can be alone. I’ll be waiting; all that’s left to do is run. It’s a love story. Baby, just say ‘yes.'”
