Despite Meryl Streep’s claims that “not everybody knew” about Harvey Weinstein’s boorish behavior, it appears that much of Hollywood was very aware of what was going on. In a season six episode of 30 Rock penned by Tina Fey that aired in 2012, Jane Krakowski’s character Jenna Maroney declares that she isn’t afraid of anybody in show business. “I turned down intercourse with Harvey Weinstein on no less than three occasions… out of five,” she says.
Meanwhile, back in the early 2000s, Entourage featured a hot-tempered producer named Harvey Weingard (played by Maury Chaykin) that was based on Weinstein. The series portrayed “Weingard” as an awful but hugely influential figure in Hollywood who could destroy the career of anybody who displeased him.
Recently unearthed video shows that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane called out Harvey Weinstein back in 2013 for his predatory behavior. MacFarlane was announcing that year’s Oscar nominees for supporting actress when he made the telling remark. “Congratulations! You five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein!” he declared after reading aloud the names. Emma Stone can be seen standing next to MacFarlane and laughing at the remark. The crowd can also be heard chuckling.
