A fourth Canadian has been confirmed dead after Sunday night’s mass shooting in Las Vegas – at least 6 other Canadians wounded. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said yesterday he spoke to President Donald Trump the day before to express condolences after the attack that left 59 dead and over 500 injured.
GoFundMe for Las Vegas Victims – A Go Fund Me page created for the victims of Sunday’s attack just surpassed $8 million – getting closer to its $10 million goal. Country duo Florida Georgia Line just added ten grand to it; Mike Tyson, Kid Rock and The Chainsmokers have also made donations. The fundraising page will provide financial relief to the victims of the shooting.
Ellen Spreads Message of Hope – Ellen DeGeneres encouraged her viewers to remain optimistic yesterday despite the recent tragic events: “There is so much going on in the world right now. People are recovering from hurricanes, devastation in Puerto Rico and on top of that, something like this happens. I don’t know about you, but I feel sad, I feel anxious, I feel helpless, and it’s very easy to lose hope, but we cannot do that.” She added, “There’s a lot more good in the world than there is bad and I continue to believe that.” She also hoped that her audience could help her fill the room with love and prayers and hope.
Screen Free Backfires – Lion & Bright on Agricola is getting backlash on social media for going screen-free – but with a twist. The screen-free rule only seems to include work-related screens like laptops, iPads, tablets and not smart phones; people took to Twitter calling it “pretentious,” going as far to say they will never go to Lion & Bright again. The restaurant has issued an apology if the rule offended and will edit the signs with a clearer message of “turning off their work” and de-stress.
Tommy Lee Jones Hates Jim Carrey – On last night’s episode of the Norm Macdonald Live podcast, Jim Carrey revealed that Tommy Lee Jones absolutely despised working with him on the 1995 film Batman Forever. Carrey recalled that at a dinner during filming, Jones went to hug Jim and said, “I hate you. I really don’t like you; I cannot sanction your buffoonery.” So please – on this National Taco and National Vodka Day, enjoy both of these things while using the term “I cannot sanction your buffoonery” at least once today for us!
And that’s your Fast Five!
