Game of Thrones director Jeremy Podeswa has defended Ed Sheeran’s much ridiculed appearance on Sunday’s season seven premiere of Game of Thrones.
“I think Ed did a lovely job—he’s a lovely actor and a lovely person,” Podeswa tells Newsweek. “He was appropriate for the part because he needed to sing. If people didn’t know who Ed was, they wouldn’t have thought about it twice. The hoo-ha seems to be from things that are outside of the world of the show. In the world of the show, he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world.”
Ed actually deleted his Twitter account for a short period because of the backlash he was receiving after the cameo. He reactivated his account only after a day or so but looks like he’s starting fresh by deleting tweets all the way back to April 3, 2015 and only with about 8k followers.
