The Tragically Hip’s final show of last year’s “Man Machine Poem” tour is getting an encore television broadcast June 24. CBC will re-air the nearly 3-hour show, commercial free as a perfect (and oh-so-Canadian Way) way to kick-off the summer. The concert took place in the band’s hometown of Kingston, Ontario to a sold-out crowd last August and is believed to be the Hip’s final show as Gord Downie battles terminal brain cancer.
When it aired last year, it ranked among the most-watched events across the country. Viewership came in behind only the 2016 Super Bowl and Academy Awards telecasts! Fans even hosted viewing parties across the country and some local communities held public screenings (Halifax did it on Argyle Street.)
